Dear Festividder:
Thank you for taking on the challenge of making me a vid! (And thanks to any potential treat makers, too! 😊)
Some general notes…
SILO (TV): Don't be sleeping on Silo! It's a really great show with an evocative mystery box story (thousands of people are living in a giant silo and they can't leave because it's icky outside, but is it really?!), the cast has an incredible range of actors (except for literally one person *cough* Common *cough), but most importantly it's about Rebecca Ferguson being a sweaty mechanic and then the most attractive sheriff to ever wear the uniform. It's a good! And I'm just stating facts here.
REBECCA FERGUSON RPF: She's a brilliant actress who takes her craft super duper seriously, but then when the cameras stop rolling you get this incredible, hilarious, Swedish nutball! This is a gorgeounomous person on the outside and a total clown on the inside and I just love her! Lots of bts scenes and press and red carpets and instagram reels can show you just what a glorious weirdo we're dealing with here.
DEAD RINGERS (2023 TV): It's not just Rachel Weisz, it's Rachel TWEISZ! This show is an adaptation of a David Cronenberg movie with Jeremy Irons and y'all, THIS IS SO MUCH BETTER. The show is created by women and making the adjustment to focus on female twins instead of male twins immediately changed the perspective to be better and so much more fucked up. It's also queer! And that means that this show is not afraid to "go there." Ahem. Look, it's twice the Weisz and, ultimately, that's all that matters.
TÁR (2022): The best film of 2022, the best character study of a female ant-hero maybe ever, truly the best Cate Blanchett performance (so far!). I have seen this film a gazillion times and I still find ways to peel back layers. This is an absolute MASTERPIECE of a film and Lydia Tár is a legend, queen, and an icon.
THE NEWSREADER (TV 2021): A delightful Australian program set in the 80's where Anna Torv and Sam Reid are reporters who read! the news! and are super messy, lovable humans. And it's wroth repeating that ANNA TORV is indeed a lead here!

Some general notes…
- “Talky face” is my nemesis. Please, PLEASE try to avoid using clips like that. (Exceptions to all rules apply, but generally even when vidding real people, there are plenty of options to use other than when someone is speaking.)
- My music tastes are a bit GET OFF MY LAWN, I fear. Most modern stuff is not my jam, but maybe I just don’t know the good bands so it would be awesome to find new tunes through vids again. I tend to gravitate towards alternative music from the last 20 years and also love 80’s and 90’s stuff when the mood hits. But please do what you feel is right for the vid that you are making.
- I’m cool with all content, effects, and vidding styles. Just please don’t overwhelm with effects for no reason and if you’re adding dialogue please make sure to mix it so it doesn’t interfere with the music. If you feel like experimenting and going outside what’s normal for you, go for it! And if you don’t, that’s totally fine too. I’m so stoked to see what you come up with!
